Research in food, nutrition and dietetics
Food, Nutrition, and Dietetics is about the importance of food to people in today’s consumer society. The Food, Nutrition, and Dietetics field addresses the complexities that food and meals present to individuals and various groups in diverse contexts, from the perspectives of natural science and social science. The Department of Food, Nutrition and Dietetics at Uppsala University comprises multiple research orientations gathered under two main domains: dietetic communication and public meals. There is a special focus on the dietary habits, nutritional intake, and information needs of vulnerable groups, as well as their conditions in a societal context. This research has close ties with the study programs offered and with the professions the department trains students for, a fact that received special favorable mention in Q&R 07 (an international evaluation of all research at Uppsala University in 2007).
